Principal photography has begun on Irish / Luxembourg / Dutch / Japanese co-production ‘Love Eternal’. The new feature began filming on location in Cobh, County Cork in late August and production has moved Luxembourg, where it is due to finish in two weeks time.

Cast in the feature include Dutch actor Robert de Hoog (Skin, Met Donker Thuis), Scottish actress Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman, Burke and Hare), UK actress Amanda Ryan (Elizabeth, Shameless) and Irish actor Declan Conlon (The Tudors, Fair City). The screenplay was adapted by Muldowney from Kei Oishi’s Japanese novel ‘In Love with the Dead’ and it centres on a damaged young man who after shutting himself away for ten years, is forced to venture into a world that he no longer understands. The feature, which is being shot on the ARRI ALEXA camera, will be filmed over a six week period.

Irish producers on the feature are Conor Barry, Morgan Bushe and Macdara Kelleher for Dublin based Fastnet Films who are in co-production with Rinkel Films BV of the Netherlands, with whom they co-produced ‘The Other Side of Sleep’, along with Red Lion S.a.r.l and T.O. Entertainment. Line Producer is Donna Eperon (Kisses, The Halo Effect).

Director of Photography for ‘Love Eternal’ is Tom Comerford (Savage) and it will be edited by Mairead McIvor (Eamon, Swansong: Story of Occi Byrne). Post-production on the feature will take place in the Netherlands.

This is the second feature from Muldowney, whose debut feature film ‘Savage’ received six IFTA nominations in 2010. The film has received funding from the Irish Film Board, Film Fund Luxembourg, the Netherlands Film Fund, T.O. Entertainment Inc and Atlantic Screen Music Ltd.

The is the first Irish/Luxembourg feature to go into production following the signing of a co-production treaty at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh.
