Luxembourg co-productions scoop 7 prizes at Belgian film awards

(ADW) Luxembourg co-production films featured heavily in this year’s Belgian film awards “Les Magritte du cinéma” winning seven prizes in total for three films. The ceremony that took place at the weekend, was the third edition and an important event in the Belgian cinema calendar.

Four awards went to the film “À perdre la raison”, directed by Joachim Lafosse and co-produced by Jani Thiltges for Luxembourg company Samsa Film. It won Best film, Best Director, Best Actress for Emilie Duquenne, and Best Editing  for Sophie Vercruysse.

For “Mobile Home”, a co-production with Tarantula Luxembourg, actress Anne-Pascale Clairembourg came away with the award for Best Promising Actress and for the same film Best Original Music Score was awarded to Coyote, Renaud Mayeur, François Petit and Michaël de Zanet.

 

 

Dead Man Tallking“, a film by Patrick Ridremont and co-produced by Lilian Esche for Bidibul Productions, achieved the prize of Best Decor by Alina Santos.

In total 21 prizes were awarded at the “Les Magritte du Cinéma” ceremony in Brussels.

In conjunction with the event, director of the National Fund of audiovisual production Guy Daleiden and president of the film Acamédie Luxembourg Claude Waringo, met with leaders of the Association for French language cinema awards, that takes place on June 29 in Dakar (Senegal). The meeting was to discuss the inclusion of three feature films and one short film from Luxembourg in this ceremony.
