(CS) Bye bye Discovery Zone, hello LuxFilmFest! Luxembourg City’s film festival is undergoing a revamp for its next edition, starting February 26 next year, with a new name and logo.

Formerly called Discovery Zone Luxembourg City Film Festival, the movie extravaganza will now go by Luxembourg City Film Festival only, LuxFilmFest for short.

The new logo was designed by Luxembourg graphic designer Michel Welfringer, who previously created the logo for the Cannes film festival’s Directors’ Fortnight.

The trimmed down name is aimed at helping better promote the festival, both in Luxembourg, as well as when speaking to industry professionals abroad, explained programme coordinator Alexis Juncosa. The Discovery Zone moniker had frequently led to some confusion, making it harder to sell the brand, he said.

The concept of the festival, however, will not change, Juncosa added, with the team currently working on finalising the programme for the upcoming edition. “We want to go deeper in terms of quality,” said Juncosa, for a “panorama of feature and documentary films, and the best Luxembourg has to offer.”

The programme should be presented in late January or early February, roughly a month before the festival starts. The fifth edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival runs from February 26 until March 8, 2015.

Until then, visit the new Facebook page for updates or follow @luxfilmfest on Twitter. The website luxfilmfest.lu is also set to launch soon.
