Celebrate Thierry
Thierry van Werveke was one of Luxembourg’s finest character actors, a charismatic rock’n’roll singer and warm human being who lived life to the full.

He died too young at the age of 50 in January 2009, but his memory lives on in the films he made and particularly those with Andy Bausch–Thierry will forever be associated with the role of small-time crook Jacques Guddebuer (aka Johnny Chicago) in Bausch’s Troublemaker films, even though he went on to act for other directors in the theatre and on the big and small screen.

Since his death Thierry’s widow Danièle and friends and colleagues from the world of film, theatre and music have kept alive his memory with the Fondation Thierry van Werveke, which aims to help socially disadvantaged youngsters and also to encourage young people starting a career in the theatre, cinema or music.

On Saturday the foundation is hosting a benefit concert under the title D’Keess op an d’Klacken eraus! (open the cash register and hand over the money)–a quote from Troublemaker. The likes of Daniel Balthasar, Raquel Barreira, Corbi & Fluit from De Läb, Deborah Lehnen, Sascha Ley, Claudine Muno, Désirée Nosbusch, John Rech and Serge Tonnar (Legotrip) will perform Luxembourgish songs in the spirit of Thierry alongside the Chicago Family Orchestra.

This is a chance to see the very best Luxembourg musical talent and to remember Thierry, as well as raising funds to help those less fortunate. The concert will be recorded for an RTL broadcast and a special DVD and CD.
