FILMREAKTER DOUBLE FEATURE #2 @ CINEMATHEQUE – 25/06/2011 starts at 22h00, Entry: 6€ (two films + free drinks)

Filmreakter and the Cinematheque have teamed up to bring you a monthly dose of z-movies in a double bill, not only will you get two films for the price of one, but we will also throw in a couple of free beers and other drinks that you can help yourself to in the half-hour break between the films.
The Cinematheque disposes of a vast archive to which we have been given the key and a flashlight, what we’ve returned with are original 35mm prints from the ancient grindhouse circuit, films last projected on some dusty desert drive-in cinema back in 1976.
After a first screening under the theme of Deranged Psychosexual Killers last month, Filmreakter returns to present two classics of the Australian cinema renaissance of the 70′s and 80′s – a wave of films that has formed a genre all by itself, lovingly referred to as Ozploitation and best known for giving us Mel Gibson. As an introduction to the June Filmreakter Double Feature we recommend the fascinating documentary on down under genre cinema Not Quite Hollywood (readily available on the internet at amazon.co.uk or elsewhere).
