Parking space reclaimed for art

A parking space in Luxembourg city is to be transformed into an art gallery on Friday.
Artist Trixi Weis will screen her video installation Traffic Signs at the space in Avenue de la Liberté near the station on September 17.
Passersby will be able to watch the short film which studies the language of road users and the effect driving has on peoples’ moods.
The screening will be a preview of Trixi’s solo exhibition at the Galerie Nei Liicht in Dudelange, which begins the following day.
It forms part of Luxembourg’s Parking Day event in which residents can reclaim a parking space in the city and transform it into something completely different.
From cultural events to demonstrations or wedding ceremonies, members of the public are free to choose how to use their space.
All they need to do to secure the space is to register the project with the City Council and pay the equivalent price of a parking ticket.
Visitors can catch Trixi Weis’ installation between 8am and 6pm.
