In 2006, Pascal Schumacher, vibraphone player and composer, and Laura Schroeder, filmmaker, get together with the idea of creating a show that revisits the world of the famous French director and actor Jacques Tati.

Two more musicians, Guy Frisch and Marc Demuth, as well as the actor Tony De Maeyer join them to set up a theatre show that combines different media on stage: live music, theatre and film images projected on a screen would come together to plunge the audience into a contemporary tatiesque world; Luxembourg would become Tatiworld for a night.

The premiere of « Tati – A work in progress » took place in January 2007 at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg. While the actor embodied a Monsieur Hulot transposed to our times and photographs replaced film images, default of budget, the show already encountered success, which motivated the artists to pursue the work on the project.

A new enriched version, entitled « LUXTIME – Jacques Tati revisited » will go on stage in June 2009 at the Théâtre National du Luxembourg.

“LUXTIME” combines:
music live on stage ( vibraphone, percussions, string bass, clarinets and saxophones)
film images ( extracts of films by Tati + new scenes directed by Laura Schroeder)
theatre ( two actors on stage)
