“The cable network has begun production on a movie with the provocative title of “The Murder of Princess Diana.” Jennifer Morrison (“House”) will star in the film — though she won’t play the princess, contrary to some reports — which is currently shooting in Paris and Luxembourg. The movie is scheduled to premiere in August, presumably around the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death on Aug. 31, 1997.”

‘House’ Star Does ‘Diana’ for Lifetime
Jennifer Morrison to star in movie set for August

Add Lifetime to the scores of media outlets developing projects to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana.

The cable network has begun production on a movie with the provocative title of “The Murder of Princess Diana.” Jennifer Morrison (“House”) will star in the film — though she won’t play the princess, contrary to some reports — which is currently shooting in Paris and Luxembourg. The movie is scheduled to premiere in August, presumably around the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death on Aug. 31, 1997.

“Princess Diana’s death is still viewed as an unsolved mystery, despite the official police investigation that concluded that the crash was a tragic accident,” Lifetime head Susanne Daniels says. “In this movie, we are sharing a dramatic story that will appeal to millions of people’s continued fascination with both the facts and speculation surrounding the case.”

“The Murder of Princess Diana” is a fictionalized take on Noel Botham’s 2004 book, which speculated that the car crash that claimed the lives of Diana, boyfriend Dodi Fayed and their driver, Henri Paul, was deliberately caused and then covered up.

Morrison will play an American journalist who witnesses the crash and becomes suspicious after hearing the official report on the incident. As she investigates with the help of her cop ex-boyfriend, she learns that she’s digging in a place where powerful people would prefer her not to dig.

John Strickland (“Big Love,” “Hustle”) is directing the movie, which was written by Emma Reeves (“Doctors”) and Reg Gadney (“Kennedy”).

August 1997, so Wright.
