Step into Discovery Zone
This year’s Discovery Zone festival, like last year’s inaugural event, is dedicated to showing films that audiences are unlikely to see on Luxembourg’s big screens at any other time.

The festival is divided into different sections, with an official selection of 11 feature films up for a critic’s prize, a documentary programme, a choice of new films made in Luxembourg, a lively young audience sections, a focus on Nordic film, and a clutch of sideshow events (such as an exhibition of portraits and film stills by Luxembourg-based photographer Fabrizio Maltese) away from the screening rooms.

Highlights of the official selection include Julie Delpy’s bittersweet comedy 2 Days in New York with Chris Rock, Mexican beauty queen-gangland thriller Miss Bala (photo) and emotional Greek drama Alps.

The documentaries include actor Michael Madsen’s beautiful yet haunting film about the construction of a Finnish nuclear waste dump Into Eternity and Werner Herzog’s heart-breaking look at the death penalty and violent crime Into The Abyss as well as Richard De Aragues’s extraordinary adrenaline rush 3D film about the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races.

Check out the website for full details or download the excellent iTunes app.
