The winner of the Kraków Film Award for debut directors in the amount of $100,000 will be announced by OFF PLUS CAMERA’10 on the 25th of April!

Twelve films from all over the world will be competing for the award, which will be decided by an international Jury headed by the famous composer Zbigniew Preisner. The award will be presented by the Mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski.

“Making Way” is the name of the competition, chosen because we hope the Kraków Film Award will help the director to shoot another film and kick start his or her cinematic career. We are happy to announce that for the previous two winners of the award – Azazel Jacobs for “Momma’s Man” and Sebastian Silva for “La Nana” – this is exactly what has happened.

The “Making Way” Dramatic Competition is the most important event of the OFF PLUS CAMERA festival. That these are the first or second films by independent directors from all over the world produced in 2009-2010 guarantees that the competing works are some of the most exciting and intriguing in independent cinema. Competing directors have been chosen for the quality and clarity of their creative abilities as they work with traditional or avant-garde techniques to reveal their artistic sensibilities in mature forms.

The audience will also be giving an award. Amongst the films in all of the festival sections except “Don’t Knock the Rock”, “Catching Up” and “15 Years of Pusan IFF”, viewers can select one film to receive the OFF PLUS CAMERA’10 Audience Award. The award is sponsored by Noble Bank.
