(CS) Three Luxembourg co-productions will be screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which kicks off on September 4.

Presented in the Contemporary World Cinema category, the film “Amour Fou” tells the story of 19th Century German poet Heinrich von Kleist, who tries to entice a young woman to commit suicide together.

Told with black humour, Jessica Hausner’s film about life, death and (undying) love received positive reviews following its screening in Cannes earlier this year.

In the TIFF Kids selection, Irish director Tomm Moore’s latest work Song of the Sea is sure to enchant audiences. Animated by Mélusine Productions, which already brought Ernest & Célestine to life on screen, the film is inspired by Irish myth. With voice acting by Brendan Gleeson, it follows brother and sister Ben and Saoirse as they discover the magical world of their ancestors.

Also in the children’s selection is Secrets of War by Dennis Bots. Coproduced by Tarantula, this drama tells the story of two Dutch children during the Second World War.
