Utopia SA and Europa Cinemas have announced the second edition of the “27 Times Cinema” contest. Utopia SA is a founding member of Europa Cinemas.

The inaugural event was launched with great success in 2010 in partnership with Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori) and the European Parliament. The initiative invites 27 young viewers from 27 countries of the European Union to the next edition of the Venice Film Festival to be held between 31 August and 10 September 2011.

Utopia SA will select some lucky participants from the nominations received to Europa Cinemas for the final selection of the 27 winners who will leave for Venice. One winner will be selected from Luxembourg.

The 27 winners will be asked over the course of the 10-day event to discover the various films from the Venice Days film festival and to exchange ideas and views during discussions with the filmmakers. The prize includes booking and management of all travel and accommodation for the duration of the event with a scheduled arrival in Venice Wednesday 31 August and departure on Sunday 11 September 2011.

The competition is open to those aged between 18 and 25 years of age with a good command of English (reading, writing and speaking) – in order to participate in discussions about the films and write text on a blog.

Interested persons should send a short CV in English, a text (max. 10 lines) presenting their case for their application and a short description (max. 5 phrases) of 3 scenes from 3 films seen recently. Applications by email to: njolivet@utopolis.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Wednesday 25 May.

The selected candidates will receive priority access to screenings and will undertake to:

– see all the 15 films of the Venice Days film festival;
– participate in round table discussions and meetings with directors;
– contribute to a blog developed specifically;
– write an entry every day for the Europa Cinemas website and media partners;
– assign a mention of one of the films in the Giornate selection.
