European Short Pitch 2012

NISI MASA’s European Short Pitch had its final session in Maribor, Slovenia from March 2 – 4. During the European Pitch and Coproduction Forum, young filmmakers and scriptwriters had the chance to meet industry professionals and producers from all over Europe…

Maribor, Slovenia is one of this year’s European Capitals of Culture. This is the place chosen by NISI MASA to organize their European Short Pitch’s final session. During the European Pitch and Coproduction Forum, young filmmakers and scriptwriters had the chance to meet industry professionals and producers from all over Europe and most likely to get a European coproduction for its short film projects. A total of 25 short film projects by young European filmmakers from Italy, Great Britain, Bosnia, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Luxemburg, France, Malta, Greece, Slovakia and Romania were selected to participate at the ESP.

All the selected projects previously participated in a scriptwriting workshop in Luxembourg (January 3 –  8 ) and an online session (January 9 – February 15).

During the pitching sessions and coproduction forum, 24 scriptwriter/directors were present, 36 industry professionals from all over Europe attended and in total, NISI MASA facilitated 171 one-to-one sessions between participants and producers.

For the first time at NISI MASA’s ESP, there was an award ceremony, with three prizes of €1000 each, called “The European Short Pitch 2012 Awards”. During the pitching sessions in Maribor, the producers present got a change to pick their three favorites and this is what they decided were the best pitches:

CHAIN by Eicke Bettinga (Germany/Bulgaria)
THE CHICKEN by Una Gunjak (Bosnia/Italy/UK)
ELECTRIFYING LOVE by Avgousta Zourelidi (Greece/UK)

The European Short Pitch 2012 was funded by the MEDIA Programme, Film Fund Luxembourg and Maribor 2012 European Capital of Culture.
