Euro-cult goddess Edwige Fenech (« resurrected » in 2007 fir Eli Roth’s Hostel II) plays a frustrated housewife with a traumatic past, who may or may not be going insane when she keeps seeing a menacing, yet handsome man with impressive 70’s sideburns. On the urging of friends, she first tries psychoanalysis then takes part in a drugged black mass complete with orgies and a slaughtered puppy. Shot in London and Rome in lavish, color-drenched cinemascope, Buio is hailed as one of the giallo genre’s best kept secrets.
