DARIO ARGENTO. The master. This film is the perfect starting point for anyone unacquainted with the man’s films, as well as essential viewing for those among you who haven’t yet treaded beyond Argento’s seminal supernatural thrillers “Suspiria” or “Inferno”. This, his debut feature, threw the world of exploitation cinema into a frenzy when it was initially released in 1970 and is the first of his important “animal trilogy”, followed by “The Cat o’Nine Tails” and “Four Flies on Grey Velvet”. This is where our so very beloved Italian “Giallo” truly took of. A prime example of this highly influential thriller genre, midway between Hitchcock and the American slasher – not to be missed!
