Short film produced in Luxembourg scoops ninth award

A short film produced in Luxembourg has scooped an audience prize at a festival in France.

Cyrus Neshvad’s L’orchidée won the Audience Award at the 23rd International Festival of Beauvais, marking the ninth award received in 22 official selections.

The 13-minute drama was shot entirely in Luxembourg, in Luxembourgish, and follows the frustrations of pensioner Fernand, who is placed in a nursing home by his son against his will. There he gets to know his roommate, Angelo, who offers a different outlook on life.

L’orchidée was produced by Adolf El Assal (Independent Spirit Productions), Cyrus Neshvad (Syneco) and Raoul Nadalet (Antevita Films).

Following on from this success, it will next be screened at the International Film Festival in Bucharest from April 15 to 21.
