Saving Béart and Gamblin’s marriage in Bertrand’s Nous Trois

Shooting kicked off yesterday (23.03) in Luxembourg on Renaud Bertrand’s second feature, Nous Trois (“The Three of Us”).

Following Les Irréductibles (2006), the director has teamed up again with Jacques Gamblin (nominated for the 2009 Best Actor Cesar for The First Day of the Rest of Your Life [trailer] and currently on screens in Bellamy [trailer]), who stars alongside Emmanuelle Béart (Vinyan [trailer]) and young actor Nathan Gorgelin. The cast also includes rising star Audrey Dana (much acclaimed for her performance in Welcome [trailer]) and Italy’s Stefano Accorsi.

Co-written by the director and Virginie Chanu, this 1972-set romantic drama centres on an inventor (Gamblin) who spends all his time alone in his workshop, gradually drifting apart from his wife (Béart).

Sensing the frustrations and inner loneliness of his lovelorn mother, their 10-year-old son – a sensitive and imaginative child – goes to all lengths to breathe new life into his parents’ marriage. An article about Queen Elizabeth II gives him the idea of creating a world where his mother becomes “the Queen”, a perfectly happy woman.

Produced by Fabio Conversi for Babe Films (whose latest production Je l’aimais will hit theatres on May 6 – see news), Nous Trois received co-production support from Luxembourg-based Paul Thiltges Distributions and a pre-sale from Canal+.

The seven-week shoot will take place in Luxembourg. Domestic distribution will be handled by SND, while international sales are still under negotiation.
