Moving into A Small Room in Luxembourg

The Swiss/Luxembourg co-production La Petite Chambre (“The Small Room”) has started filming in Luxembourg City, the capital of the Grand Duchy. The film is the feature debut of the duo Véronique Reymond-Stéphanie Chuat, who co-directed the short Berlin Backstage in 2004. La Petite Chambre tells the story of a 35-year-old nurse, Rose, who starts working again after a long absence. She visits the 85-year-old Edmond as part of her rounds, a cantankerous old man who does not want to be helped. The title is a reference to an unoccupied baby room in Rose’s house that she avoids at all costs.

The film stars veteran actor Michel Bouquet as well as Florence Loiret-CailleEric Caravaca, Joël Delsaut, Valérie Bodson and Marc Olinger. The production companies behind the project are Swiss outfit Vega Film and Nicolas Steil’s Luxembourg-based Iris Productions. The two companies already worked together on Humains [trailer], which was also directed by a duo: Jacques-Olivier Molon and Pierre-Olivier Thévenin. It is one of the many Swiss/Luxembourg co-productions shooting in Luxembourg recently, after Dominique Rivaz’ Life for Sale [trailer] and Lutz Konermann’s Der Fürsorger. The two countries, both smaller German- and French-speaking nations, are natural partners.
