The new documentary film by the young director Govinda Van Maele dedicated to the Luxembourg rock and metal scene will be shown in an exclusive preview in the outstanding setting of the Rockhalclub, laid out as a cinema for the occasion. The showing of the film will be followed by a debate on the themes tackled in the film and concerts by the groups Heartbeat Parade and Babyoil.

“ROCDOC” (official preview):

Synopsis:
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is often considered the model country of the European Union. Small, wealthy, multicultural and peaceful, it is not at least in appearance confronted by the many problems of unemployment, racial tension and poverty which affect other countries in the European Union. Against that background, and considering the historical protesting roots of the rock culture, you could ask where perhaps can be the place of rock, and its associated rebellion, in a society which seems to be afloat with abundance and comfort.

In the film “Rocdoc”, director Govinda Van Maele follows four Luxembourg rock/metal groups for an entire summer. Each stage of a musical career has its corresponding difficulties and conflicts, for most of the time revolving around the crucial question of whether you should “let everything go for the music”. The film documents and seeks to describe the “rock” spirit in Luxembourg and highlights the issues and the sacrifices associated with the choice of living music in Luxembourg.

Screening: 19.30 – 20.45 @ Rockhalclub

“Rocdoc” (public debate):

The screening will be followed by a brief interview with Govinda Van Maele and a public debate with members of the groups depicted in the film. The debate will be chaired by Yves Stephany (Radio 100.7)
