Huppert and Lanners play prostitute and shrink in Sans Queue Ni Tête

Final preparations are underway before shooting starts next Monday in Belgium onJeanne Labrune’s Sans Queue Ni Tête (“Cock-and-Bull”). This is the seventh cinematic feature by the whimsical director of Tomorrow’s Another Day (2000),Special Delivery (2002) and Cause Toujours! (“Carry on Talking!”, 2004).

The film will star Isabelle Huppert (who recently won acclaim at Venice in White Material) and popular Belgian actor Bouli Lanners (Louise Michel [trailerfilm focus]). The cast also includes Valérie Dréville, Richard Debuisne and Sabila Moussadek.

Co-written by Labrune and Richard Debuisne, Sans Queue Ni Tête centres on Alice (Huppert), an independent prostitute who is tired of her job and plans to undergo psychoanalysis to find the strength to change her life.

Meanwhile, psychoanalyst Xavier (Lanners) has just been left by his wife and is weary of listening to his clients’ monologues. He decides to call on a professional to satisfy his erotic urges.

The two characters thus meet, but this is not the start of a romance, just the first stage in a difficult journey which, through conflicts, ordeals and disappointments, leads them both to rediscover themselves. They come across a third character (Debuisne), whom they will lean on in order to make a fresh start.

Produced by Paris-based Liaison CinématographiqueSans Queue Ni Tête is co-produced by Luxembourg’sSamsa Film, Belgium’s Artémis Production and the director’s company Art-Light Productions. Pre-bought byCanal+, the film also received backing from the new Wallimage/Bruxellimage fund.

The 36-day shoot will take place in Belgium (Brussels, Liège and Charleroi) until October 8, before relocating to Paris, then Luxembourg. Rezo Films will manage French distribution, while international sales are still under negotiation.
