MONTREAL — Mexican director Luiz Urquiza Mondragon’s Obediencia Perfecta (Perfect Obedience) took top honours as the 38th Festival des films du monde (FFM) drew to a close Monday night.

Here is a selective list of the evening’s winners:

Grand Prix des Amériques: Obediencia Perfecta (Perfect Obedience) by Luiz Urquiza Mondragon (Mexico)

Special Grand Prix of the jury: Fushigi Na Misaki No Monogatari (Cape Nostalgia), by Izuru Narushima (Japan)

Best director: Mipo O for Sokonominite Hikari Kagayaku (The Light Shines Only There) (Japan)

Best Actress: Rachael Blake and Lucie Debay in Bernard Bellefroid’s film Melody (Belgium-France-Luxembourg)
