Watch 100 must-see films at the Cinémathèque

(CS) Luxembourg City’s Cinémathèque has compiled a list of 100 classic must-see films, which will be screened at its cinema over the coming year, with cinephiles able to enjoy one free visit for every ten movies watched.

Starting January 2, 2015, the “Essential Cinema” programme will take viewers on a tour of what cinema has to offer, from silent-film classics such as Metropolis and Modern Times to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and the Coen brothers’s modern cult classic Fargo.

Films from around the world and across genres are on the programme, that features directors from Francis Ford Coppola and Lars von Trier to Akira Kurosawa and Abbas Kiarostami.

A brochure available at the Cinémathèque or online here provides the full list, as well as a section to rate the films already seen.

For every movie ticked off the list, visitors can get a stamp in their programme, with one free screenings offered for every ten movies seen.

So, if you’re still looking for a New Year’s resolution, how about seeing the who’s who and what’s what of international cinema classics on the big screen?
